MCACC HOPING TO LOWER NUMBER OF UNWANTED CATS
(Phoenix, December 19, 2010) – The Year of the Cat has started. Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) is dedicating 2010 to saving more cats in Maricopa County. 14,082 cats came through MCACC last year. With only 25% of the cats getting adopted and about 20% getting rescued, there is too large of a gap. One way MCACC has dedicated to saving more cats lives is to hold a cat-only spay neuter clinic once a month.
The first FREE Cat Only Spay/Neuter Clinic will be held on January 23. The clinic will be at the Home Depot parking lot, 1330 W. Baseline Road in Tempe. Check in begins at 7:00 am and is first come, first serve. Show up early as the clinic can take around 25 animals. There is a limit of two pets per household.
Don Stapley, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors urges all cat owners to take advantage of this free program to help control the pet overpopulation problem. “Help us save more cat’s lives this year and be a responsible pet owner.”
Bring your cat out on January 23 to get them sterilized at no cost to you. Help us in the battle against unwanted, homeless pets!
