Now that I'm cleared on medical, and full of energy, I'm ready to tell you all about myself:
First, when you meet me, I don't play hard to get. I love you immediately. I bestow affection, kisses and pure love right away, to absolutely everyone. I have no people boundaries - you're all awesome!
I don't pace or pant, or have any anxiety behaviors unless I'm left alone for more than a short time. The one time I did, I chewed my foster's plastic cup...but I'm sure I'd get used to being on my own, once I knew for sure you'd be back soon!
I am the BEST sofa dog around - I'm a marathon sofa sleeper. I LOOOOOOOVE the sofa.
Belly rubs? All day, please. No really, all the time is fine.
I am HOUSETRAINED and will come to you or go to the door to go out when I need to go, if you don't remember to take me in a timely manner!
I LOVE walks - I am curious, interested in every noise and view, and I tend to get distracted from my "business" so it helps if I start out somewhere I can focus on my needs (like a quiet potty area). I'm pretty good on a leash, but I could use a little work in that area - I do pull a bit right now when I see birds, bunnies, geckos, any prey. But I don't pull when I see other dogs. I like them, but I don't HAVE to go greet them. I haven't seen a cat yet, so I can't make any promises about my reaction to them.
I was definitely a family member in my pre-foster days. I am relaxed in the house and understand a strong "NO" very well. I immediately apologize for my behavior by sitting or crouching in place. I don't cower, but I stop myself immediately until I understand what you want. I only want to please you!
I tried to sleep on my foster family's bed the first couple nights, but obeyed the "NO" and stopped trying once it was reinforced after a couple of nights. But that sofa is fair game and I sleep on it every night! I don't have any interest at all in sleeping on doggy beds.
I am a total LOVE BUG. I cuddle and want petting and want to be with you. I am mostly calm and self amusing; I stick to my chew toys and squeaky things. I will need a little transition time if I'm going to be left alone for periods of time. When you leave me for too long.. I miss you.
